Buenos Aires, Argentina - July 28-30, 2010

Welcome Message

Dr. RichardetDear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the Latin American Federation of Cancer Societies (FLASCA) and the Local Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the 4th Latin American Conference on Lung Cancer (LALCA 2010) in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 28 July to 30 July 2010.

Lung Cancer is a high frequency illness in the population with special relation to those with smoking habits. The key in the struggle against this serious public health problem is prevention. This is best accomplished through educational campaigns focused on avoiding the use of tobacco and pollution. Therefore, one of the most prevelent topics for this conference is prevention and anti-tobacco campaigns. There will be an outstanding number of highly experienced experts in tobacco control, who will discuss and come up with recommendations on this topic particularly to be performed in Latin America.

Over the past few years, molecular biology has revolutionized everything we have ever known about the natural history of this illness. Treatment must be approached by multiple specialists and the strategy must be tailored for every patient. We will be joined by top notch specialists from different latitudes of the world in order to exchange knowledge and experience. We strongly encourage poster and scientific trials presentations. Local experiences will be welcomed.

The 4th Latin American Conference on Lung Cancer is sponsored by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), hosted by the Latin American Federation of Cancer Societies (FLASCA) and supported by the Oncology Societies of Argentina and Uruguay as well as other lung cancer related associations from both countries. It proves once again that cooperation and harmonious relation between those countries make the organization of such an exciting scientific event possible.

Buenos Aires, the Queen of del Plata River, one of the most beautiful capitals of the world, is eager to host all those who are willing to come to LALCA 2010, offering its culture, its stunning architecture, exquisite cuisine, and its lovely tango music and dance.

Please join us for a stimulating and exciting conference and take a little extra time to enjoy the spectacular and unique beauty of this region. We look forward to welcoming you.
